Take a look at the Bit-Tech cream of the crop in PC modding this year.
Things have really advanced beyond the simple led and water cooling modifications of yesteryear.
I've included my personal favorites here, but have a look at the complete list after the break!

Dorkly rules!

Just discovered some hilarious gaming clips produced for the Dorkly channel.
I'm posting my current two favourites, but many more gems are available - the Mortal Kombat and "gaming character X meets his agent " are great too!

Have phun!

The end of the world ?

Well, the end of A world, Star Wars Galaxies to be more precise.
It doesn't happen too often that a "legendary" grand old MMO gets killed off, but that is precisely what is going to happen on 15/12/2011. It will have been running about 8 years by then!

There is one special twist : at the end of that day, you will be able to see who actually won the Intergalactic war (Empire versus Rebels). So go have a look at all the stuff after the break and find out what you'll be missing... forever...

What is better than a free game?

Uhhh, 3 free games of course! And that is just what the open source community around Aleph One has in store for you. But not just any old free game. No, the (semi) official HD remakes of Bungie's Marathon games!
They were the Doom and Duke mirror games on Macintosh. Only played a tiny bit of those but they are very well regarded in the retro community. So go check them out after the break !

There is also online multiplayer in Marathon Infinity !

Back to the "BeeB"

The BBC Micro turns 30 today. I never owned this home computer from the '80s. I was stuck with a ZX81 and then a Sinclair QL (figure that!) but I eagerly followed all the BBC computing programmes on tv (since I lived in just about the only area at the time where you could watch the BBC channels abroad).

Here's a bunch of great articles on what those times were like and how that machine and its rivals influenced the giants of today, in gaming, IT technology and everything in between.

At the BBC site

You can also watch Micro Men here -  a great docu-drama on the rivalry between Sinclair and Curry at that time
